Raw Milk Podcast

Raw milk is a topic that we’ve covered a number of times here at Keep Our Food Safe, even as recently as this past March.  But the topic has recently attracted a lot of attention in the national media.  Why?  Because more people are trying raw milk because they think it’s healthier.  As a result, more people are getting sick from contaminated raw milk.  And, as a result of that, both the CDC and the FDA are cracking down on producers of raw milk. All of which brings in the media.

Part of the problem is there are celebrities out there touting the benefits of raw milk, and, unfortunately, lots of people are influenced by what they say.  Here at Keep Our Food Safe, we like to jokingly refer to that as “movie star science.”

We’ve got a better suggestion.  Listen to our podcast interview with Dr. Jay-Russell from the University of California, Davis, a food safety and security expert.  She’s a “real” scientist and what she has to say just might just surprise you.  Especially the part about hard cheese that’s made from raw milk and perhaps sold in your grocery store.

Remember, food safety is based on science not opinion.  If it were based on opinion, I know the troops here might be suggesting pizza and potato chips for every meal!
